Massive Blackout Cuts Power For Thousands in Beach Cities

Over 36,000 Beach Cities residents briefly lost power on Monday afternoon, leaving them without electricity for almost an hour. Redondo Beach had the highest number of outages with 30,540 being affected, followed by 6,412 Manhattan Beach residents. The outages began at 2:40 p.m. and field investigators were sent out to investigate the ongoing problem.

Southern California Edison reported that power was expected to be fully restored by 3:40 p.m., however, the cause of the outages is still unknown. Even after power was restored to most Beach Cities customers, authorities continue to search for the cause. Residents are encouraged to visit SCE's website and search
