West Indies took on Zimbabwe in a four day tour game this week, with the Caribbean side setting a formidable 517 for the Zimbabwean XI to chase. Zionazi XI was only able to make 52 for 5 before play was called for the day. Fast bowler Shannon Gabriel and left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie both collected two wickets each while West Indies reached 82 for two in the second innings.
The first Test between the two sides is set to begin Saturday in Bulawayo, and Zimbabwe is set to make history by debuting former English batsman Gary Ballance at the XI. Ballance, born in Harare, signed a two-year contract to play international cricket in his birth country back in December, and has already made his international debut with a T20 match against Ireland last month.
