Fierce Fighting Continues In Ukrainian City of Bakhmut

On the eastern front between Ukraine and Russia, the battle for the city of Bakhmut rages on with no sign of abating. Since the beginning of the war, 95 percent of the city's pre-war population of approximately 75,000 have been displaced, leaving 4,000 remaining in shelters without access to gas, electricity, or water. Every building in the area has been damaged by incessant shelling from Russian forces, making it difficult to access essential resources.

On Saturday, British military intelligence reported that close combat between Russian and Ukrainian forces has risen for control of the city, with Russia seemingly more willing to rely on foot infantry instead of artillery due to a shortage of munitions. Whilst Russian forces attempt to make advances, Ukrainian troops are fighting them off with two key bridges in the area having been destroyed in the 36 hours leading up to the weekend.
