How 5G Service Providers are Strategically Leveraging Subscription Services to Monetize 5G

The Mobile World Congress ended last week in Barcelona, and much of the conversation among industry executives involved moving beyond the rollout phase for 5G and creating new business opportunities for all stakeholders. Industry insiders now recognize that the value of 5G lies not only in its faster download and upload speeds, but also in its ability to monetize its services-- a shift from the traditional phone sales to new subscription services.

PricewaterhouseCoopers conducted a 5G Revenue Analysis and determined that IoT connectivity for low-usage plans generated the highest revenue per GB, coming in at $16.89, while fixed wireless access (FWA) generated the least, at $0.14 per GB. To capitalize on this potential revenue, analysts advise network providers to pursue strategies of incremental growth in services and efficiency programs while they await the advent of the "metaverse"-- a potential future reality
