Southern California is at a standstill as they grapple with the aftermath of a winter storm that has brought dangerous "blizzard conditions" to the mountains and record-setting rainfall amounts in and around Los Angeles. The storm has left more than 120,000 customers without power, closed Interstate 5, and prompted the closure of several beaches from Los Angeles to San Diego due to lightning-strikes. In the most extreme cases, rescue crews had to be called in for people stranded in an island in a Tujunga wash and two homeless men who were stranded in a flooded Hansen Dam.
The National Weather Service warned of potential flooding, landslides and mudslides, so officials averted an even more dangerous situation by rescuing four homeless people and four dogs who were stranded in a remote area of land in the Sepulveda Basin.
