Did a Tornado Damage Virginia Beach Homes and Cancel Something in the Water Festival?

A tornado touched down in Virginia Beach on Sunday evening, causing damage to at least 12 homes and trees down on a vehicle and a house. The storm started in Fort Story area in northeastern Virginia Beach, and passed through the Great Neck area around 6:00 pm. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene, and residents were transported to shelters as the Great Neck Recreation Center. Residents also reported gas leaks, while Dominion Energy reports thousands of customers lost power during the storm. The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado soon after, and the authorities canceled Something in the Water festival performances for the evening. The City of Virginia Beach urged people to call 911 for emergencies and 311 for other impacts or information. As of now, there have been no reports of injuries, but the extent of the damage will be confirmed on Monday when a survey is conducted.
