The surge in visitors is causing the local hotel economy to soar and businesses to experience a surge in customers. The impact extends beyond the local economy, though. The success of the university’s sports teams is spilling over into academic success, with MSU reporting its second largest freshman enrollment in history this year.

The Bobcats men's basketball team won the Big Sky Tournament, seizing the opportunity to appear in March Madness. The football team, men's hockey team, and other sports have also been experiencing success over the last couple of years, to the point that the Big Sky Conference awarded MSU with the Big Sky Men's All-Sports Trophy.
