At least four people were killed as a result of a tornado that struck Wynne, Arkansas, on Friday night, with 26 injured individuals requiring medical attention at Cross Ridge Community Hospital. The storm damaged the Wynne High School and nearby businesses, as well as injuring occupants of several homes in the area. Communities are rallying around those affected by the sudden disaster, with the Cross County School District urging community members to offer support in whatever way possible. The tornado occurred in the midst of a series of unrelenting twisters that devastated the South and Midwest, the strongest of which received a rating of EF-3 from the National Weather Service (NWS), with winds up to 165 mph. The NWS noted that their storm survey was ongoing and could take several days. Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders declared a state of emergency, and thousands of workers are presently assessing and repairing impacted areas. Entergy Arkansas reported sending 3,300 workers to evaluate storm damage to the electrical grid.
