The National Weather Service in Reno has issued an increasingly-likely warning for an Atmospheric River to arrive in portions of Northern Nevada from Thursday afternoon to Sunday. Experts expect the highest rainfall totals to be found in the higher terrain of the North Bay and Santa Cruz Mountains, where shallow mudslides are possible due to the soils being saturated from recent rain. Roadways may be flooded and streams could reach their danger levels on Friday morning across the Bay Area.
In anticipation, the City of Reno is providing sandbags at various locations, City of Sparks is offering sandbags at Cottonwood Park, Silver State International and 399 Coney Island Driver, and Washoe County has provided several locations. Lyon County, Mason Town Hall building and Storey County are also offering sand and sandbags.
