Oil Pipelines Unaffected By Turkish Earthquake, Flows Continue

Turkish citizens awoke to a 7.8 magnitude quake early Monday morning that shook the entire country and claimed the lives of over 500 people. While the devastation to civilians was catastrophic, the nation's oil pipelines have stayed largely intact despite the force of the quake. Oil flows from the Kerkuk-Ceyhan pipeline, carrying oil from Iraq to Turkey, and from the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline are continuing as normal.

The Ceyhan oil terminal in southern Turkey was initially suspended following the quake, however a spokesperson from Tribeca shipping agency announced that an emergency meeting had been convened to address the issue. The terminal is located around 155 kilometers from the quake’s epicenter and does not appear to have experienced significant damage.

State pipeline operator BOTAS reported that damage to a natural gas transmission line had led to isolated disruption of supplies to the provinces of Gaziantep
