With an energetic crowd of 20,000 fans from Oran and beyond urging them on, Algerian confidence was high and Ayoub's goal simply added to it. By the end of the first half, Algeria had registered a further two goals, one of them coming from a Madjid Bougherra free-kick that left the Niger goalkeeper rooted to the ground.
