Pence Calls Out Trump: "History Will Hold Him Accountable"

In an unprecedented move on Saturday night, former Vice President Mike Pence spoke out against Donald Trump, directly blaming the former president for his role in the lead-up to the Jan. 6 attack on the United States Capitol.

The remarks came during his appearance at the white-tie Gridiron dinner, organised by the press corp in Washington that this year featured speeches from Secretary of State Antony Blinken and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy in addition to Pence.

Pence said that Trump was wrong for trying to overturn the election and that his reckless words put everyone at the Capitol in danger. “Make no mistake about it, what happened that day was a disgrace, and it mocks decency to portray it in any other way”, the former vice president stated.
