As part of the observance of this year’s African American History Month, citizens in Detroit and Pullman, Washington are celebrating the strength and resilience of Africans, African-Americans, and people of African descent by providing the public with multi-faceted educational experiences.
In Pullman, Washington, an event titled “Eddie’s Brooks Tapes” will feature a stage production, reading of oral narratives from pre-1960’s Mississippi. Through these stories, listeners will submerge themselves in the daily life of African-Americans and gain a better understanding of the historic oppression they faced and the role they played in the Civil Rights Movement.
