Nigeria will be hosting the U19 Boys Africa Championship for volleyball in August 2021. The African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) made the announcement on Wednesday, May 26, noting that the tournament will be held at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos. The tournament will feature 10 teams competing for five spots in the U19 World Championship to be held in Iran next year.
Despite the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, Nigeria's hosting of the tournament shows the country's commitment to the development of volleyball in Africa. The Nigerian Volleyball Federation has said that it will ensure strict compliance with COVID-19 health protocols during the tournament to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators.
The U19 Boys Africa Championship is expected to bring together talented young players from across Africa as they showcase their skills and compete for the opportunity to represent Africa in the World Championship.
